Lick Em' Bones- AWESOME RIBS!!

Hello peeps!
On the 21st of November, TGI Fridays had a promotion where all food items were 50% OFF!!!
That morning, my mum told me about the promotion and that we had booked a table for dinner.
All I could think of at that point was HUGE ASS BEEF RIBS for dinner!
The whole day was full of anticipation!

The promo
TGI Fridays
So we arrived around 6.30 pm for our dinner.  (My family and I eat dinner early)
The place was packed! Reservations, waiting lists, ALL FULL!
Thank God we had reserved earlier in the morning.

Anyway dad and I had ribs while mum had chicken and shrimp.

Parents dishes:

I especially loved the texture of the meat, so soft and falls of the bone!!
The sauce was AWESOME too - BBQ sweet sauce!

The best part for me was to lick the bones at the end!
I dunno about ya'll, but when I am really enjoying the food, I don't care about who watches, I'll enjoy and savor every last bit!

I used to love the burgers in TGIF, but after tasting the ribs, there was no turning back!
A MUST HAVE I'd say!!
Enjoy guys, and don't forget to "Lick em' bones!"

Tandoori Chicken Heaven

Hello everyone!
Few days ago I went to Gurney Tower for lunch in Kapitan (mamak food).
I went there with my college mates and we were expecting a good meal after dizziness from lectures haha!
I always loved the Tandoori Chicken served at all Kapitan outlets, from experience.
I love the tenderness and the succulent taste of the chicken right to its bones.
So I just knew I had to have it!
I had ordered the Tandoori Chicken Briyani Rice.
Review below.

The taste was awesome, but it was too expensive!!!
The red and green sauce combo was superb with the chicken!!

A college mate of mine, JT had Chicken Milani with Briyani. He too gave a review about the meal. His thoughts were that "The sauce on the meat was the main taste stimulating ingredient!". I agree because I tasted it too and found it to be a very tasty creamy and cheesy sauce.

All in all it was a good meal, however it was in a "classy" area so the prices were a little pricey!
For good Tandoori Chicken, I'd seriously recommend Kapitan!!!
Take care guys!

McD Breakfast Day

Hello there!
It was a usual Monday morning and I was driving back home after sending my mum to work.
Suddenly, something caught my eye.
It was McDonalds Greenlane. There was a long line from inside the shop to the outside.
I knew there was some kind of promotion going on.

So instead of going to McD Greenlane, I rushed to McD Tesco, since I guessed there won't be many people there.
I was right, there were only a few people there, and I found out that it was BREAKFAST DAY!
They were giving out 1000 Egg McMuffins per store free to the public.
I was excited when I heard it!

So I went ahead, stood in line and had a very good breakfast that day!
Breakfast day
Not as many people in line as McD Greenlane
Sweeeeeet sweeeeeeet Breakfast!
Thank You McDonalds Malaysia!
I will continue to #support! ;)

Hello all,
This is a long overdue post.
Last week my cousin Aimee called me over for food.
I thought it was gonna be simple food, but I had a SHOCK when I went there!
The smell was awesome, the looks were awesome, the tastes-unforgettable!
I knew I just had to blog about this.
Chicken 65, Sotong Parretel, Ikan Bilis Sambal and Gobi Manchurian!
I enjoyed the Gobi Manchurian the most!

If you don't know what these are:

Chicken 65
Chicken marinated with cocout milk, chilli, spices and other ingredients.
Fried to perfection with onions and curry leaves.
Ikan Bilis Sambal
Fried anchovy with chilli paste.
Sweet, spicy salty taste.
Sotong Parretel
Spicy indian curry with squids.
Gobi Manchurian *the best*
Fried cauliflower with special sweet sauce.
Every bite was an explosion of tastes.
She cooked for her dad, mum, boyfriend and myself.
I love to eat food like this, indian home-cooked food.
Someday I wish to cook like this!
AIMEE I will be looking forward for more lunches haha!

Anyway, ya'll can Google recipes to these dishes.
But in order for it to be "perfect" ask an indian aunty!

Good, cheap, awesome taste, LAKSA- Balik Pulau!

Wassup people!

Have you heard of the awesome LAKSA in Balik Pulau, Penang?
ITS SOOOOOO GOOOOOD!!
I had it last week and the taste...unforgettable!
Sweet, sour, spicy...OOOLALA!

For those who don't know: (info from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laksa)
"Laksa has two kinds (curry and asam). The laksa I am referring to is asam laksa. Penang laksa (Malay: Laksa Pulau Pinang), also known as asam laksa from the Malay for tamarind, comes from the Malaysian island of Penang. It is made with mackerel (ikan kembung) soup and its main distinguishing feature is the asam or tamarind which gives the soup a sour taste. The fish is poached and then flaked. Other ingredients that give Penang laksa its distinctive flavour include lemongrassgalangal(lengkuas) and chilli. Typical garnishes include mintpineapple slices, thinly sliced onion, hε-ko, a thick sweet prawn paste and use of torch ginger flower. This, and not 'curry mee' is the usual 'laksa' one gets in Penang."
I usually have the laksas around town and those were supposedly the "best" laksa's around. However a friend told me that Balik Pulau, apart from being famous because of its durians, was also famous for its laksa.

So the escapade to find the best laksa brought me to Balik Pulau to try the heavily recommended asam laksa.

This shop is opposite Balik Pulau Market. A small shop but always crowded with people due to its great laksa. I was excited about the laksa the moment I stepped in.

I really loved the "asam taste" of the laksa. It has a unique taste and has huge fillets of fish cut up in the soup. This adds to the texture and "substance" of the meal, making it worth it for only RM3 per small bowl (very filling and satisfying).

Balik Pulau is a long drive away from the city, but I'll say, go for it! It's worth driving for.

Laksa Balik Pulau, AWESOME!

Char Koay Teow and Cendol- Two Must Have's in Penang

Hey guys and girls!

Last week I was searching for a good place to eat with a friend. He is not from Penang, so he wanted to taste AWESOME Penang food, namely the famous cendol and char koay teow in Joo Hooi Kopitiam (愉园餐室) on lower Penang Road. He had heard a lot about this kopitiam from his friends in KL.

Joo Hooi Kopitiam
This kopitiam has been serving awesome food for around 50 years and is renown for its cendol, char koay teow, ais kacang  and laksa (I'll be covering only my two favourite ones-char koay teow and cendol).

Char koay teow is a fried flat rice noodle dish with belachan, prawns, egg, pork, beansprouts, and soy sauce. The char koay teow in Joo Hooi Kopitiam for me, is one of the best in Penang (a MUST HAVE).

The cendol is a dessert with green jelly, coconut milk, shaved ice, and brown sugar. It has a creamy taste to it and is a delicacy in Penang. I like the cendol here because it is sweet, has a very exquisite taste and just melts in your mouth.

I've come to this shop many times since I was young and I love the taste of the food here!
My friend loved the taste of the char koay teow and cendol and said that his trip to Penang was "complete" hahaha!

If any of you guys are searching for good Penang local food, head on to Joo Hooi Kopitiam, Lower Penang Road. It is famous, so just ask any taxi guy in Penang and he'll send you there!

Until next time folks, take care!  ;)

Festival of Lights- Awesome Day

Hello everyone!

Happy Deepavali!!!!

Today is Deepavali, the festival of lights! (google it if you need more info)
Anyway the first thing that popped into my mind on Deepavali was:
SUPERB FOOOOOOOD!!!

A close friend of mine, Pavitra Nair, called my college mates and I to her house in Butterworth. We left around 12.00pm and were all hungry (could smell the food all the way from Penang, lol-sarcasm).

Well we bought two huge hampers to give her for Deepavali. After reaching and wishing her family, we sat for a while and then the festival of lights became the festival of tastes.
Hungry Ghosts grabbing the food haha
Hungry Ghosts Eating
From the muruku to the mutton varuval, gosh! The taste was simply SUPERB!! AND one great thing about it was that it was all HOME COOKED by Pavitra's mum. (Thank you AUNTY!)

The starters:
Ghee Balls
Ompoddi (muruku mixture)
Jam Tarts
Butter Cookies
Chocolate Butter Cookies
Peanut Cookies
 Chittu Urundhai
Peanut Butter Cookies
Some form of Ghee Balls
Laddu

The good stuff:
Look at the EPIC-NESS
Sotong Pirattal
Kicap Prawns
Chicken Kurma
Peas Dhal Curry
Chicken Sambal
Cabbage Vege
Briyani Rice
Basmathi Rice
STAR OF THE DAY: Mutton Varuval
After eating we all sat down in Pavitra's hall and started telling various mind-bending riddles. It was fun and had everyone be so heated up in trying to find out the answers.
Heated discussions
AND THEN........THE PHOTO SESSION HAD BEGUN:
Sabrena, Monishaa, Pavitra, Ker Lynn & I
Monishaa's epic gesture
Pavitra & I
The DISTED gang
The Girls-few missing
The Guys
After visiting Pavitra's house and having FANTASTIC lunches, we left and went to Sunway Carnival for an hour of window-shopping/lepak-ing. I have never been to Sunway Carnival before today so it was fun for me. The shops however were almost the same as malls in Penang island.

ANYWAY....

After that, we wanted to head home and were trying to search for useful signboards that show the Penang bridge sign. I was in Kenny's car and apparently we got lost somewhere in Butterworth, but thank God we eventually found a way to get to the ferry to get back to Penang. (Haven't been on the ferry for years)
Nice being on the ferry after so long
Jasper, Monishaa, Heusen, Winnie & I
DISTED peeps on the ferry :)

All in all, it was a great day of travelling, celebration, food, friendship and laughter.
I cherish these people and keep looking forward to more outings like this.

That's all for now ya'll.
Take care!
